As military conflicts continue to escalate globally under challenging circumstances and with devastating results, U.S. military lives will inevitably be impacted and some will unfortunately be lost. A famous quote by Abraham Lincoln expresses the level of condolence and gratitude felt by all who’ve been impacted by loss of a loved one in time of war;
“I feel how weak and fruitless must be any words of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But, I cannot refrain from tendering to you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save.” Abraham Lincoln, written during the Civil War to a mother who lost 5 sons in combat In 2012, our friend Marine Corps Master Sergeant Travis Riddick was killed while on active duty in Afghanistan. His untimely death left a void in many lives and reminded us of the high price paid by far too many of our country’s military men and women. After Travis’s passing we were left with feeling of helplessness and a desire to do something of significance that would show appreciation for our military service members. We believe that the families of military men and women who have lost a loved one or had their lives impacted due to a disabling combat injury of their military spouse may be faced with significant financial challenges. We feel that their sacrifices have earned more than our much appreciated condolences and gratitude – they deserve our active support. It is this sentiment that sparked the idea for The Humble Heroes Foundation. It is our mission to offer the spouses and children of our fallen heroes and disabled veterans an opportunity to achieve their educational goals and financial needs through scholarships and other assistance programs. It is our wish that, through support from our foundation, the family members of those that have sacrificed in defense of our freedoms will have the options necessary to achieve their life goals and make their educational dreams a reality. We hope that you will join us in this effort and actively show support to those that have proudly and honorably supported our country through their humble service to defend this great nation. |
